History
MERGED AREAS EDUCATION FOUNDATION is an autonomous body established to promote education in merged districts/areas of Khyber pakhtunkhwa.
Foundation was established in December, 2004 through a notification by governor Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.  The Honorable president of Pakistan accorded approval of the Foundation on 4th June, 2007.  The Regulation of the Foundation was approved by the President in March 2010 and promulgated in Gazette Notification by ministry of SAFRON in April, 2010.
Though the Foundation was established in 2004 it could not start operation till March, 2007 due to poor law and order situation in MAs.  The Foundation’s initial activity started with the execution of an ADP project “Assistance to Hundred Talented Students” under which 390 students have been admitted in quality educational institutions outside MAs. MEF is now undertaking various activities to realize its vision of providing enabling education.

Objectives

  1. To sponsor public private partnership initiatives in education sector of merged districts/areas of KP.
  2. To regulate, support and monitor existing model schools in Public sector and private schools;
  3. To support Voluntary Educators’ Schools (VESs) established by educated youth through an integrated program;
  4. To train teachers, headmasters and other stake holders; and
  5. To take special measures for promotion of literacy with particular focus on female education.
